Art Ed. Org. Service Learning in Action!

Kennedy Elementary in SW Fargo is one of the most diverse elementary schools in the region with children speaking 34 different languages. To help celebrate that diversity and make children and parents feel welcome, we partnered with Kennedy Elementary Art Teacher, Margaret Johnson and The Red River Zoo in helping every student in the school design and paint parts of the mural(s). Read an article about the project here!

Art Educators of MN Fall Conference

    Every November

Every fall, we try to organize a trip for interested Art Ed. Students to Minneapolis for a great professional development experience. Check out the AEM web-site and conference link here: AEM.MN.org

    Community demonstrations and volunteerism

Year-round opportunities to help in the community.

Every year our Art Ed. majors rack up hundreds of volunteer service hours in the community. In the spring we volunteer at local elementary and middle schools like Discovery Middle School or Centennial, Lincoln and Washington Elementaries, when they hold their annual Art Nights.

    Leading Local Art Clubs

Lots of opportunities to lead and teach!

Volunteer and paid positions abound at local elementary, middle and high schools to lead after school art clubs or be an assistant. Pictured at right are students who just completed a mural at Ben Franklin Middle School. Other organization where our students teach include Courts Plus Fitness Center, the YMCA's, Park and Rec.
